Facility and Grounds: <br />* Some programs have made structural modifications to be more structurai accessi- <br />ble, i.e. a wheel-chair ramp, an accessible bathroom, posted information in various <br />languages, etc. <br />* Celebrated cultural holidays; inclusion of ethnic food~ invited a speaker who <br />presented a cultural topic, hosted an ethnic decorations for a month, etc. <br />Out Puts: <br />* InGuded statistics, up-to-date information, percentages, etc. <br />* Contracted with interpreters. <br />* Networked and connected clients to other services. <br />* Arranged transportation to make the services more accessible <br />Feedback: <br />* Discussed the CCC during staff meetings. <br />* Maintained open communication with resource people. <br />* Informed the board of director about the CCC. <br />* Evaluated the CCC on a regular basis with input from staff and volunteers. <br />Do's and Don'ts When Preparing Your Plan <br />* Don't bring up the past to justify the present, i.e. "1 participated in a cross-cultural . <br />divers'ity training three years ago." "We hired ethnic/culturally diverse staff." (the <br />staff left the organization more than a year ago, and at the present time the <br />program does not have diversity represer~ta:i~n). <br />* Do be spec~c. Cite examples, results, numbers, statistics, records, etc. <br />* Do be sincere in your commitment to diversity. Ask for help and clarfications <br />before the deadline. <br />* Do involve the entire staff in this process, listen and hear their input. Remember <br />that this process is an organizational transformation. <br />* Do maintain open communications with the CYSC.
