Ruth Johnson said she would appreciate knowing exactly what
information is needed. Mark Caillier also expressed concern about the
format, and stressed the ne~d to compare oranges with oranges.
Fritz Skirvin added that the Steering Committee will have to prioritize
planning.
,~ Larry Oglesby suggested volunteers to work with Randy Curtis on the
earlier-mentioned format. Lydia Buchanan asked that the departments
be provided with an outlined form to follow.
Maynard Hammer suggested that County strategic planning should be
considered. Ken Roudybush offered to work with Randy Curtis on the
format.
It was agreed that Valerie Vollmar's ideas were germane and that she
would be a natural to chair a subcommittee treating this matter. The
committee agreed and Ken Sherman thanked her for her willingness to
move ahead with this.
PRESENTATION SCHEDULE:
Randy Curtis pointed out that originally the goal was to have
presentations done by the end of August. He proceeded to
ask committee members where the departments were in their progress.
Maynard Hammer said Juvenile was on schedule, and Larry Oglesby
said the same was true of Tri-Agency.
Ken Sherman began developing the schedule of presentations as follows:
Juvenile, about September 10th. Jim Murchison said the Marion County
Courts did not have their final report ready yet. Ken Sherman placed the
Courts at about September 15th.
- Ken Roudybush said the Marion County Board of Commissioners is
waiting for cost information on which to base their decisions. There are
also some basic questions such as centralization. His subcommittee's
presentation was set also for about the 15th of September.
Ruth Johnson asked to be placed at the end of the presentations and
was given October ist. Ralph Grim's presentation was to be made in the
latter part of September, as was Starr Garland's. Bob Royer suggested
that the Downtown Subcommittee (scheduled tentatively for August 24th)
might be combined with the courts.
