We
also reviewed the population projections outlined by the
consultants. It seemed logical to use Projection A growths
recommended by the consultants. That will provide a practical
basis from which to make our recommendations. If it proves to be
too low, there will always be the option of renting more space,
and if it is too high, the county can rent out the excess.
We reviewed the adjacency recommendations in the report. The
logic of most of the recommendations seemed sound, but there were
two that have still not_been resolved. The Clerk~s office has
recently rented space in an outlying area. The impact of this
move has not yet been determined. We will assume that until more
is known, the Clerk's total operation should return to downtown.
Our space recommendations are based on that assumption.
The other issue not resolved is the location of the Sheriff. The
Court Services of the Sheriff~s department will require 2,968
square feet. it is assumed that the Courts Sub-Committee
accommodated this. It is further assumed that the Tri-Agency
Sub-Committee accommodated the remaining portion of the Sheriff's
operation. A statute that requires the Sheriff to be located in
the Courthouse is also assumed to be satisfied.
-5-
