appropriately updated on a recurring basis. "
The work of the steering committee would not have been possible without the
dedicated efforts of the seven subcommittees, each of which labored tirelessly to brin~
to~ether and organize in coherent form the informarion concerning faciliries, operations,
finances, service demands and other factors, and the specific subcommittee recommendations
re~ardin~ each set of facilities. The Commissioners wisely decided to include on the steerinQ
committee and each of the subcommittees essentiallv equal representation from the private
sector and from county staff, and this arran~ement proved to be very workable and
productive.
The steering committee has been greatly assisted in its work by Randy Curtis, Bob
McCune and Tracy Lulay of the county General Services Department, who have provided
staff work of the highest quality on an on-~oing basis throuQhout the 10 months of the
committee's existence. In addition, dozens of employees from each county department and
agency have participated in and contributed much to the committee's work.
This report contains separate Findin~s and Recommendations with respect to each
of the seven subcommittee reports which were submitted to the steering committee. In
addition, the Public Works Department, which is now housed in the Senator Building and
was initially grouped with the Downtown Facilities, proposes to consolidate most public
works operations to the Public Works-Roads site on Silverton Road. Thus, a separate set
of Findings and Recommendations have been developed for Public Works.
The final section of this report sets forth the steering committee's Conclusions and
Recommendations regarding the prioritization of facilities development.
PAGE S
k~i/c-ti/F~rilitiPe int fl'~/1RrOC
