~
~, Marion Count Facilities
~
~
Plan
The apartmem's side is heated by original steam radiators with individual hand
valve controls.
Appro~rimatdy 60 percent of the office areas on the second, third and fourth
floor aze heated by steam radiators which are controlled by either hand valve
controls or "thennostatic" valve control, both of which aze inefficient. The
remaining 40 percent of the offices on these floors are heated by hot water
convection radiators which run the length of the east and west walls of these
areas. There is only one control valve for each length of radiator which gives
very unsatisfactory control as the radiators pass through individual, private
offices on each floor along with computer rooms and open office areas,
The first floor is a mixture of all the above systems along with gas fired heat
pwnp which serves the fIousing Authority offices in the Northeast comer of
the floor.
The District Attome}~s offices in the Northeast corner of the floor are heated
by a gas fired air handler.'
The stores/copy room area of the first floor is heated by rivo split unit electric
heat pumps which are in the air conditioning mode most of the time because
of the heat radi~ted into the area from the boiler room below.
The basement has no direcc heating system There is no air conditioning in the
apartments. ~
Air conditioning is provide to the office sections of the second, third, and
fourth floor from three roof top units which are about 20 yeazs old. These
units often develop refi-igerant leaks which require considerable work to repair
as the leaks often occur in hard to reach azeas of the equipment.
The basement conference room and the Marpo Credit Union are air
conditioned by stand alone units for those azeas. The cooling tower for the
Ma~po units needs to be replaced as it is developing leaks and is very
inefficient.
The Purchasing/Mail room is air conditioned by residential, window mount
style air condirioners.
Page 71
