Fourteen <br />sites were originally listed and studied by the Techz~ical Committee. After an uutial analysis, <br />the I~st vc-as pared to four sites, which were studicd in greater detail. The Technical Committee <br />ultimately split even~y on three sites: Greyhound b~ock, Scnator block, and Washington <br />Mutua~ block: On August 24, 1995, the Advisory Committee recommended that the Salem <br />T~ansit District Board of Dire~tors study the thtee sites in further detail p~zox to making a fuial <br />commitment on a site. 'The fnal repo~tt of the Advisory Comm,zttee is attached. A prelinn~z~a~y <br />sketch of the ground floor layout for the three sites is also attached. <br />Staff Review of the Proposed Sites <br />Public Works staff patticipated in the Teck~nical Corz~mittee. The mrost umportant issues with <br />z~egard to site selection, from staff s standpoint, dealt with the propased site's impact to <br />downcow~, t~af~c circulation and its proximity to the downtown pedestrian centers.
