This endorsement represents conceptual agreenne~t ~oz~ tk~e use of the <br />Senator Block as the prefeired site for the downtown transit center. The endorsement does not <br />include the use of the secondary sites, pezldiuzg addihonal analysis by the Transit District and <br />Council, nor cndorsement of specific use, design, or financing methodologies, pending further <br />anal.ysis and r~fmcment of the concept by thc Transit District, Marion County, and City of <br />Salem. <br />It is also recommended that Councii extend use of the cunrent transit fac~ility on H~gh Street ~or a <br />period not to e~tceed three years. At the end of such time, the Transit District would be <br />responsible for demolition and restoration of the site to its normai use as a publxc thoz~ougk-~are. <br />At the December 4, ~ 995, meeting, Cauncil recei~ved a letter from Luis Caraballo, President, <br />Sa1em Transit District (Attachment B). Mr. Caraballo informed Council that the STD Board of <br />Directors had: <br />1. Designated the Seuator Block as the preferred site for the downtown transit center; <br />
