These rates are effective January 1, 1997, and have been amended <br />iri accordance with ORS 2~9.348 through ORS 279.365. A new determination of these rates is <br />issued two times each year. <br />I'revailin~; wa~c rates are the minimum wages that must be paid to all workers einployed in thc <br />construction, reconstniction, major renovation or painting of any publie warks. Copies of these <br />rates must bc iiicorporated into all bid specifications when the advertisement for a public works <br />cantract is issued. A provision diat prevailing wage rates be paid must also bc put in thc <br />contract. 'I'he rates in effect at the time the bid specifications are first advertised are those that <br />apply fc~r thc duration of the project, with one exception; if during the bidding process the <br />prevailing wage rates change, the public contracting agency has the option of amending thc bid <br />specitications to rellect such changes. <br />Scveral chv~~es were rnade in the l~w by the 1995 Legislature (see page 6). <br />lf you identify any errors in the rates published, please bring them to the attentior~ of the <br />Prcvailing Wa~e Ratc C'oordinator in Portland (731-4074).
