Pursuant to ORS <br />2 79.348 to ORS 279.380, these rates have been adopted tor use on public works contracts in Oregon. To qualify as an apprentice or trainee, the <br />warker m~~t be registered in a bona fide apprenticeship or training program of the U.S. Department of Labor, <br />Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training 9BAT) or with any State Apprenficeship and Training Agency recognizeci by <br />f3AT. For information call (503) 731-4072. The apprentice or trainee must.receive all fringe benefits and a <br />perc,entage of the joumeyman's wage rate which is listed in this booklet. This rate may be different than the rate <br />contained in the Apprenticeship Standards for the trade. The correct percentage shall be determined by the <br />appropriate apprenticeship or training committee. All other workers must receive rates as published. <br />ZQi~~ Pav <br />In certain trades, the basic hourly rate of pay progressively increases based upon the distance between the job sitt~ <br />and a designated landmark; this is commonly referred to as zone pay. To determine the hourly wage, find the <br />carrect zone based an the number of road miles the job site is from the dosest designated city (based either on <br />distance from city hall or from geographical center of the city, depending on the trade) and add the amount for that <br />zone to the basic haurly rate. Zone pay, unlike travel pay, is the basic hourly wa,ye upon which overtime is <br />computed. <br />gis~ _~~~~ifi~~siQn~ <br />The specitications for every public works contract must indude the current prevailing wage rates in effect at the <br />time the specifications are first advertised. A statement incorporating the existing rates by reference will p~ <br />satisfy this requirement (ORS 279.3521. All contracts and atl contract specifications for a public work are required <br />to include a provision stating that the fee shall be paid to ttie Bureau of Labor.
