From: RANDY CURTIS
To: GWC1.S-PUBWI.LHGARRISON
Date: 3/19/97 8:36am
3ubject: Senator demolition/staging
Yesterday I informed the City Council that the
county expects to award a contract for
demolition and abatement of the Senator Block
the first week of April. The contractor may be
ready to start by April 14th. Larry Wacker
referred me to you.
The bidders have made inquiries to the
county regarding blocking off sidewalks and
using the parking lanes for trucks and other
heavy equipment. We antipicate the entire
block being vacated of tenants by May 1. As
excavation and new construction starts later
this summer, the entire block perimeter will
probably have to be blocked off.
Two questions:
1. What kind of problems, if any, might our
contractors experience when they make
application to the city for closure?
2. Are there any permit fees and, if yes, can
they be waived for the County?
At this point, I will probably inform the bidders
that the contractor is responsible for permits.
However, I would like to provide them with as
much information about the process as
possible in order to avoid any delays or
coordination problems with the city.
Thanks, Randy
CC: BMcCune,DHartwig
