From: Patti MILNE
~ To: GWM2.M-MAR2(RFRANKE), MRYAN
Date: 2/26/99 11:30am
Subject: Fairgrounds & North End Block -Reply
Regarding the Fiargrounds, yes, I have relayed to everyone that I spoke with
Jon Yunkers on Monday.
Jon is going to do an RFP to find out what the cost would be to do a atudy of
the fairgrounds as has been discussed among everyone at the C of C, the
legislature, the city and the county. He will find out estimated costs and
the scope of the study for that cost.
When he has this information, he will ahare it with all of us so we can all
decide which direction to go.
I will keep you uptodate as I know something.
I attended the Courthouse Square meeting yesterday and there was a discussion
about a study regarding the north block.
I understood those in attendance to be saying they were going forward with a
study to determine what residential housing there would be on the north block.
I shared with them that I would prefer a study to find the highest and best
uae of the north block. I also told them I prefer a citizen group to be
involved early in this process so we have the pluse of the community on this
~ issue. With citizen involvement perhaps we can gain support of the entire
project.
After lengthy (and very good) discussion, there was agreement that the SAC
(the citizen committee who has been involved for quite some time) will
reconvene at some time which is to be determined to discuss options for the
north block. There was expression around the table that we tie up loose ends
on Courhouse Sq., get it moving forward and then delve into the north block
issue.
I was very glad I attended the meeting. It was very informative and helpful
to me. I plan to attend regularly.
Patti
CC: BWasson,JDavis,RCurtis
