I've borrowed from the projecYs original plan. <br />Purpose <br />To detrmine the contents of a time capsule to be placed in the <br />Courthouse Square building. This capsule will be opened in 2100 or other <br />date to be decided. <br />Committee <br />The Committee carrying out this project will be appointed by the <br />Marion County Commissioners and the Salem Area Mass Transit Board. The <br />group will include: <br />County representatives selected by the County Commissioners <br />Transit representatives selected by the Transit Board <br />Bob Tompkins, former president of the Marion County Historical <br />Society and lifetime Salem resident, 4015 Lidbeck Ct. SE, Salem, OR <br />97302. 362-8430 <br />AI Jones, former newspaperman and author of article on materials <br />placed in cornerstones of famous Salem buildings, 836 Church NE, Salem, <br />OR 97301. 364-4270 <br />Adele Egan, board secretary of the Marion County Historical <br />Society, 2245 Ferry SE, Salem, OR 97302. 362-5294. <br />Item Selection Criteria: <br />Items will be a collection of current and past items that are <br />expected in survive in good condition in the container for 100 years. <br />Collectively, the capsule will include items about: <br />-- Marion County government history. <br />-- Marion County transportation history, including public transit in <br />the Salem area. <br />-- The immediate neighborhood of Courthouse Square and its history. <br />-- Life in Salem in 2000. <br />-- Construction of the building. <br />I don't know what the timeline for the time capsule development is <br />anymore. <br />Please call or let me know if you would like additional information. <br />Kyle Jansson <br />Executive Director <br />Marion County Hlstorical Society <br />
