ANDER EN WYCKOFF, GENERAL MANAGER SUBJECT: APPOINTMENTS TO SENIOR AND DISABLED CONSUMER ADVISORY COMMITTEE Issue Shall the Board dF point members to fiil open positions on the Senior and Disabled Consumer Advisory Committee (SDCAC)? Background The Senior and Disabled Consumer Advisory Committee advises the Board on matters pertaining to Salem Area Transit DistricYs services to seniors and disabled persons. Facts and Findinas 1. SDCAC is composed of fifteen members who are appointed to three-year terms. 2. Five members' terms expire on December 31, 1997. 3. Committee bylaws allow members to serve two consecutive terms and the Board, if it so desires, can reappoint members whose first terms have been completed. 4. The District published public notices inviting interested persons to apply for membership. 5. Eight new applications and two letters from members who have completed their first terms have been received. 6. Members who have completed their first terms, and are applying for re- appointment, are Donna Bench and Valerie Schaaf. 7. New applications have been received from: Janet Walker Abrams, David W. Beem, Douglas Berwick, Jody A. Bese, Dorothy Hamstreet, Dennis Kilfoil, Anthony T. Lagler, and Yvonne Martin. 8. Applicants have been invited to address the Board at the December 18 meeting. 9. The Board may fill all, some, or none of the Committee positions. If not all positions are filled staff will renew the public notice process and present applications at a later date.
