ANDER EN WYCKOFF, GENERAL MANAGER <br />SUBJECT: APPOINTMENTS TO SENIOR AND DISABLED <br />CONSUMER ADVISORY COMMITTEE <br />Issue <br />Shall the Board dF point members to fiil open positions on the Senior and Disabled <br />Consumer Advisory Committee (SDCAC)? <br />Background <br />The Senior and Disabled Consumer Advisory Committee advises the Board on <br />matters pertaining to Salem Area Transit DistricYs services to seniors and disabled <br />persons. <br />Facts and Findinas <br />1. SDCAC is composed of fifteen members who are appointed to three-year <br />terms. <br />2. Five members' terms expire on December 31, 1997. <br />3. Committee bylaws allow members to serve two consecutive terms and the <br />Board, if it so desires, can reappoint members whose first terms have been <br />completed. <br />4. The District published public notices inviting interested persons to apply for <br />membership. <br />5. Eight new applications and two letters from members who have completed <br />their first terms have been received. <br />6. Members who have completed their first terms, and are applying for re- <br />appointment, are Donna Bench and Valerie Schaaf. <br />7. New applications have been received from: Janet Walker Abrams, David W. <br />Beem, Douglas Berwick, Jody A. Bese, Dorothy Hamstreet, Dennis Kilfoil, <br />Anthony T. Lagler, and Yvonne Martin. <br />8. Applicants have been invited to address the Board at the December 18 <br />meeting. <br />9. The Board may fill all, some, or none of the Committee positions.
