The meeting of the Downtco ~n Transit Center Advisory mittee looked like a microcosm of the past 15 years. Committee Chairman Bill Frey acknowledged the 25-mem- ber committee's inability to choose. "Obviously, that didn't hap- pen," he said. "We didn't end up with a preferred site." Instead, the committee's sup- port split about equally for three sites, and it will propose those lo- cations to the elected board of the Salem Area Tran the ~~ ue at which will take up its next meeting. Those sites are the Washing- ton Mutual block, the Senator block and the Greyhound block, each named for the major build- ing or business on it. A fourth site - the Movieland theater block - received little support but will be sent on as well.
