98z8 ADVERTISEMENT FOR BID <br />SECTION 00110-1 <br />Marion County and Salem Area Mass Transit District request sealed bids from qualified vendors for ihe <br />construc[ion of Courthouse Square located on the block bounded by High Street, Court Street, Church Street, <br />and Chemeketa Street, Salem, Oregon. This project is funded in part by Federal Transit Administration <br />grants. <br />Sealed bid responses will be received by the Office of the County Clerk, Marion County Courihouse, 100 <br />High Street NE, Salem, Oregon 97301, until 3:00 p.m., February 4, 1999. Bid responses received after this <br />time will not be accepted. Bids will be opened and publicly read aloud in Room 1330, Marion County <br />Courthouse, 100 High Street NE, Salem, Oregon 97301 at that time. Bids submitled must be in a 9" x 12" <br />manilla envelope which is plainly marked "Bid Proposal for Construction of Courthouse Square: Bid <br />Opening 3:00 p.m., February 4, 7999". <br />Prime bidders may obtain one only complete set of Bidding and Contract Documents from Arbuckle Costic <br />Architects, Inc., 363 Slate Street, Salem, Oregon 97301-3533, upon deposit of $400 for each full set. <br />Bidders who retum the Contract Documents withfn 10 days and in good condition afler bid date will receive <br />full refund of deposit. Failure to submit bid or to retum documents in good condition shall be basis for <br />forteiture of deposit. Other interested parties may purchase documenls or portions thereof upon application <br />to Salem Blue, 475 Ferry Street SE, Salem, Oregon 97301, (503) 363-6097, or Lake Oswego Blueprint, <br />17020 SW Boones Feiry Road, Lake Oswego, Oregon 97035, (503) 635-4373, and payment for the cost of <br />printing. Payments made for procuremenl of additional documents will not be refunded. <br />A pre-bid conference will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 12, 1999, at Marion County Courthouse, <br />Room 1330 (Board of Commissioners Hearing Room). Attendance of bidders is not mandatory, but advised. <br />Submft proposals for ihe work on foitns fumished by the Architect, acknowledging receipt of all addenda. <br />Formal prequalification is not required nor desired, but Bidder must be a licensed contraclor under <br />ORS 468.883. <br />A Bid Bond or CeAified Check executed in favor of Marion County and Salem Area Mass Transit District in <br />an amount not less than ten percent (10%) of the total Basic Bid Sum will be required, which sum shall be <br />forteiled as fixed and liquidated damages should the Bidder neglect or refuse to enter into a contract and <br />provide a suitable bond for the failhful pertormance of the work in the event the contracl is awarcled to him. <br />Bid may be rejected for not complying with all prescribed public bidding procedures and requirements, or <br />for good cause upon a finding that it is in the public interest to do so. <br />No proposal will be considered without a statement by the Bidder as a part of their proposal thal the <br />provisfons required by the Davis-Bacon Act shall be included in this contract (Prevailing Wage Rates). <br />No Bidder may withdraw their Bid within thirly (30) days after the hour set for opening.
