Marion County Board of Commissioners
November 6, 1997
Page 2
6. A comparison summary of the facility (size, floor area, use, parking, public
amenities, etc.) proposed at the time of Council action in November, 1996,
compared to the facility as it is currently proposed.
In November, 1996, City Council, at your request, provided a conditional reaffirmation of
its commitment to invest RiverfronUDowntown Urban Renewal Funds in the project for
infrastructure and streetscape improvements. As you are aware, the basic premise of
an urban renewal investment is to stimulate and leverage private investment. It is
important that this basic premise be defined and demonstrated in relation to the scope
of the revised project.
The Council would appreciate receiving this information as soon as possible. After
reviewing the information, I wili recommend to the Council that they invite the County
Commissioners to formally present and review the information at a regularly scheduled
Ciry Council meeting. It is my understanding that the County government is the lead
agency managing this project so this communication is addressed to the County for
response. I recognize that the Transit District is a partner with the County in this project
and I would recommend they be invited to the Council meeting when the item is
discussed.
Sincerely,
~
Larry acker
City Manager
Enclosure
cc: andy Curtis
RG Andersen-Wyckoff
