The project will not be given a final inspection nor will an amended improvement <br />agreement be issued until the costs are paid. <br />Notes for traffic control: Every contractor working in the City right-of-way shall be required to <br />obtain a Street/Lane/Alley/Sidewalk Closure Permit from the Public Works Department Traffic <br />Engineering Section, Room 325, two working days in advance and provide signing diagrams for <br />all closures. Required closure fees must be paid before pernuts are issued. Each occurrence of <br />working in the right-of-way will require a separate permit. Every contractor working in the right- <br />of-way outside the city of Salem shall contact the appropriate City, County, or State jurisdiction <br />for right-of-way permits. <br />If the construction permit has not been issued within six months of the date of this letter, the <br />approval is null and void in accordance with Salem Revised Code 77.091(c), unless a time <br />extension is requested. It is the developer's responsibility to contact the City for a time <br />extension. The City will not notify the developer when the six months plan approval expires. The <br />fees for this construction permit are based on the estimate of the cost of construction at the time <br />of the~ original approval letter. Fees are revised effective July 1 of each year. If a time extension <br />is granted, fees will be recalculated based on the fee schedule in effect at the time the extension is <br />granted. ' <br />Prior to issuance of the constcuction permit, we must receive evidence of contractors' insurance <br />and worker's compensation coverage, and a 100 percent performance seeurity made for the <br />contract amount. The criteria for acceptable form of performance security may be obtained by <br />calling the Construction Inspection Section at (503) 588-6211. <br />Prior to issuance of the construction permit, the contractor shall submit a construction schedule. <br />A formal, detailed constcuction schedule in accordance with Section 108.01 of the City's <br />Standard Construction Specifications, indicating the sequence of construction for the principal <br />items of work, will be required. Please note that the City has an example construction project <br />schedule form available at the Public Works Department, Room 325. <br />Please be advised that Salem Revised Code 77.130 requires that the contractor shall give the City <br />a minimum of 48 hours' notice prior to beginning construction (excluding weekends and <br />holidays). The 48-hour notice shall not be given until after issuance of a construction permit. <br />This notice should be given to the City's inspection office at (503) 588-6211. For fire service <br />projects, this notice should be given to the City's Utilities Inspections Section at (503) 588-6063. <br />Please take the necessary steps to ensur~ that the City of Salem and all utility companies receive <br />notification and requests for location at least 48 hours prior to the start of construction.
