~. <br />DIVISION 2 - SITE WORK <br />~ <br />SECTION 02085 <br />EXCAVATION, REMOVAL, DECONTAMINATION AND DISPOSAL <br />OF UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANKS <br />PART 1 - GENERAL <br />1.1 DESCRIPTION <br />A. This section covers the proper and safe excavation, removal, decontamination, <br />and ultimate disposal of underground petroleum storage tanks. <br />B. The procedures set forth are designed to minimize the immediate and future <br />environmental problems/liabilities associated with this work as well as to ensure <br />compliance with state and federal regulations on underground storage tanks. <br />C. Tank fill and vent piping and shafts shall be removed under this contract. <br />D. Piping to fuel pump shall be removed under this contract. <br />E. Petroleum product or contaminated water shall be removed from the underground <br />storage tanks and properly disposed of prior to tank decommissioning. <br />1.2 WORK ITEMS <br />A. The work includes but is not limited to: <br />1. Removal and disposal of residual product sludge or rinsate in the tanks. <br />2. Excavation and removal of the tank. <br />3. Disposal of the tank. <br />4. Notification of the Engineer to take samples of the soil surrounding the <br />tank. <br />5. Excavation slope stabilization. <br />6. Notify the Engineer 72 hours prior to beginning any construction activity. <br />7. Submit a copy of "The UST Decommissioning/Chang~-In-Service Report <br />Form" to DEQ within 30 days after completion of decommissioning the <br />tanks and provide a copy to the Engineer. <br />8. Submit a copy of "The UST Decommissioning Form" to DEQ within 30 <br />days after completion of decommissioning the tanks and provide a copy to <br />Excavation, Removal, Decontamination and Disposal of USTs 02085-1 <br />
