These expenses fall into two
categories: moving expenses and reestablishment expenses_
As we have discussed before, there is no dvllar limit imposed by the Relocation Act on moving
costs. The $70,564.78 actually paid vendors for moving the various agencies and departmencs
is an allowable relacation expense.
The Relocation Act identifies a number of general categaries of expenses that are allowable
"reestabiishment expenses". Included in this category are the costs of "modifications to the
replacement property to accammodate the business operation or to make replacement structures
suitable for conducting the business..." Also allowable are "increased costs of operation duting
th~ first 2 years at the replacement site for such items as lease or rental charges..," However,
reestablishmc:nt expenses are limited to $10,000 maxzmum per business or non-prafit
or~anization. Sased on your spread sheet, the amount of $100,901.40 is an allowable
reestablishment expense.
The total claim of $171,466.18 for moving and reestablishment expenses is an allowable
relocation expense.
