~ Demolition: The site survey is completed. The demolition plan is completed and VWill be finalized <br />tomorrow (3/7). Dan will get this to Dave. Len reported that Steve is concerned abc~ut the vacation <br />permit for the alley. Excavation can be handled separately. The vacation of the a~lley should not <br />interfere with what the contractors need to do. <br />Civil: Dan is not concerned about the civil permit at this time. The technical~l specs are done. <br />The civil plan review is scheduled for 5/19. ' <br />Design: Dan showed Randy the new design of the fifth floor, with the atrium c ming through. <br />There was general discussion around the design. Dave is going to work further on th atrium design <br />and cost. Len reported that the cost of the glass covering over the pedestrian walk ays is at about <br />$25.00 sf, which is better than originally expected. ' <br />The tower and northwest corner are changing to be less of a tower and more of a squ~re corner with <br />a sloping roof to match the plaza. The corner still mimics the plaza side. Dan will d~uble check the <br />common areas before Len finalizes the design. ' <br />Mechanical: Len reported that he has been contacted by people at the Dept. of Ene~rgy who would <br />like to commission the mechanical system. He has had experience witli this in C}ntario. Going <br />through the commissioning process generally addresses problems immediately and we will more <br />likely have a more functioning building. The state will provide a 35% tax credit to Qover a portion <br />~ of the cost. Randy has already put some language in the development agreement. He~'~ wouldn't mind <br />paying to avoid the problems that come with the mechanicals. ' <br />Dan needs to have some meetings with Mark to explore some of the tax credit optio~ps. Len highly <br />recommends commissioning the mechanical. ' <br />ACTION: Dan and Len will set up a meeting with the state. Len has asked th ~ m for a list of <br />people who deal with this. It should not be the company that installs the mechanic~l. <br />Day care: Dan is hoping to have the day care issue resolved in about two weelcls. <br />Traffic Flow: RG asked Len about the flow of traffic out of the parking garage. Tr~ffic will have <br />to cross and there is also a sight distance issue. '', <br />ACTION: Len will look at the design. <br />Ground Breaking: Randy asked for discussion on the ground breaking issue. We e nearing the <br />point where we need to decide if we want a ground breaking ceremony. Tradition lly the county <br />does this. It can be done two ways, either when the building comes down, or after emolition by <br />turning over a shovel full of soil. This takes planning. Dan supports the idea of a gr und breaking <br />~ ceremony. The project needs the PR. Ideally, if we could take one part of the bui~ding to knock <br />down, because the demolition is not going to bring the building down in one explosior~. RG said that <br />
