~ the way to do it is before we begin gutting the building. Randy said that we sho~ld have Pence-
Kelly's assistance, and Kathleen's input to see how this can be done with some cerer~ony. The first
part of the building that can be taken down is the southwest corner of the block, c~here the empty
apartments stand. Dan's concern is that there is asbestos in that building and we c~uld have some
issues there.
~'~
ACTION: Dan will talk to Kathy. He has talked with a firm about marketing t~,he project with
brochures and photos. ',
Relocation: Archives will be moved the first week of April. Within the follov~jing two weeks
Community Development will be out. The two remaining buildings should be in ~scrow by next
week. ~
There will be a meeting on Monday with the law office to get them to establish wh~t benefits they
want. The next step may be to hand them an eviction notice. They may not be out pf the building
when the other buildings come down. '
Dr Harlow moves in two weeks. The Beanery has been extended to S/l. The wine I hop is closing
down. The OLCC hearing is on 3/19. There may be a delay in their moving to a ne location while
the permit is in process. RG said that we need to find out if he needs approval from e City Council
to move into his new space. ',
~ ACTION: Dan will check into this by calling Ann Gavin-Sample. '~,
Demolition and Abatement: An ad for bids on abatement and demolition iwill appear on
3/10. There will be a walk through on 3/17. Bids are due by 3/31. Bids will be re~iewed on 4/1.
The contractor needs to be on site by 4/15. We may disqualify some of the bidders b cause they are
unable to meet the time line. The ad will be in the local papers and as well as the m nority papers.
The owner of River City is a woman, but she has declined because she is too busy. ere is a paper
trail to show this. Dan will see if she can send us a letter formally declining. '
Contract negotiations must happen fast for salvage to start on 4/10. If Kathy continu~s to work with
David, we will have the contract ready to sign quickly. ',
The demolition contractor will in turn hire the abatement contractar. Abatement is s~heduled to be
completed by 6/1. Demolition will be complete within the following six weeks. Sta~ing will begin
on 7/1. They will be digging ground by 8/1. I
ACTION: Everyone needs to be present to approve the demolition and abatem~nt contractor.
Plan for the entire morning and possibly a working lunch. ,
DEQ Permits: Marion County will need to file for these permits. The cons~tant will help
~ with the process. David Hartwig is warking on the agreement with DEQ. DEQ want to know who
we give the abatement contract to. It will take 10 days to get the permit.
