COURTHOUSE SQUARE <br />Design Team Meeting <br />December 5, 1996 <br />Present: RG Andersen-Wycoff, Sa1em Transit District; Randy Curtis, Mari n County; Dan <br />Berrey, Prudential; Alan Costic, Architect; Curt Pence, Pence/Kell~ Construction; <br />Rachel Sheskey, Arbuckle Costic Architects ~'~, <br />ITEM 1: UPDATES <br />Property Acquisition: See Attached <br />Relocation: See Attached <br />Financing: See Attached <br />EnvironmentaL ' <br />Tanks ' <br />There was discussion around the necessary environmental assessments on the Sena~tor block. Dan <br />reported that there are two tanks in the alley behind the Goldberg property. It'I is unclear who <br />they belong to and the exact location. ' <br />~ ACTION: Randy will check to see if the county owns these and try to identi~y the locations. <br />Tunnel ' <br />Dan reported that there is a possible underground tunnel running between the enator building <br />and the Courthouse. He referred to a Fire Department report. Randy said that ~e doesn't think <br />it's an actual "tunnel." It may be a pipe with cables running through it. ', <br />ACTION: Ra.ndy will check with Bob McCune to determine the size of th~ "tunnel." <br />Chevron Site ' <br />Dan said that there may be contamination on the Chevron site from the dumping' of oil, batteries <br />and metals. Kathleen Thorpe has reported that the Chevron files needs to be revi wed before she <br />meets with Chevron. She has been given the go ahead from Mike Hansen and B Cannon. Her <br />estimate is 60 hours to review the file and 10 - 20 hours to negotiate a deal wi Chevron. She <br />will also have to meet with DEQ to see what needs to be done to meet their ~requirements to <br />clean up the site. ~', <br />Level 1 Assessment ' <br />Dan stated that it is not cleaz if a level one assessment will be necessary for the~ Marion County <br />space, because they own the property. There is a question about the remainder of the block. Dan <br />recommended going ahead with the level one assessments so that when transit b ys the property, <br />~ they can say that the level one assessments have been done.
