Back-up System: RG asked if we were considering back-up systems for comm 'cation, lights and <br />~ computers. Curt stated that code would a back-up system for lighting and for sta.irw ys. Dan stated that <br />this would mean separate wiring for dedicated computer lines. Dan asked if Curt sh uld check into cost <br />of a generator for stairways, hallways, and the main computers, but not the coun computers. <br />Decision: It was agreed that the entire building should be on the same saf ty system. <br />Phones: Randy reported that the county owns its own phone switching system. ransit would want <br />to hook into the county system. It was suggested that the entire building may be a le to hook into the <br />system. <br />I <br />ACTION: Randy will check into the system's capacity. ~~ <br />'i <br />Lighting: An DC versus AC lighting system was discussed. Dan quoted appro~m tely 1/3rd savings <br />on power consumption. The only problem encountered was that the original manufac e was no longer <br />in business. Randy suggested that the county may be able to support a system. <br />ACTION: Curt will find out who supports this system <br />ii <br />- Roofing: It was discussed that with a typically flat design, some mechanical rooms can be located on <br />~ the roof. The possibility of designing the roof with some pitch was also discussed. , <br />No decision. ' <br />Final clean-up; T'here was discussion around how the DavisBacon decision would ' pact this project, <br />and whether there was an avenue for the project to pursue so we don't have to compl . Curt was asked <br />for some figures as to be how much of a savings, versus compliance. He estimate the savings to be <br />$125,000.00 on SO,OOOsf. <br />Dan questioned why we would have to comply and is the cost savings substantial e ough to go to the <br />state and see what we can do to avoid it. Ra.ndy stated that it must be first approa ed at the federal <br />level, and the issue is only if the county must comply. Transit is subject to this. , <br />No decision.
