Y
~ Courthouse Square Manager's Meeting
Apri130, 1997
Present: Randy, Elyn, David, Dan, Tracy, Mike and Peggy
Abatement & Demolition:
Randy started the meeting with discussing the demolition contract status with Staton
Construction. The plan was to have them start tomonow on May 18`. David has ca11 in
to Ron Richie that has not been returned. Contract has not been signed, and we need to
know when is he planning to be on-site. There also needs to be a meeting involving the
demolition contractor and the abatement contractor to clarify schedules and time frames.
ACTION: David to follow up with Staton Construction to get signed contract and also
to work towazds setting up meeting between abatement and demolition contractors.
It appears that another contractor/contract has been left out or forgotten. Foss
Environmental had a bid for removal of freon from air conditioners, removal of ballasts,
paint cans, and other hazardous materials. It appears we do not have a signed contract
for this portion of environmental work. It needs to fit into what Rex Allen is doing and
the demolition phase. Kathleen originally got an estimate from Foss Environmental.
The contract is now bigger than originally estimated by Foss. Previous discussions
resulted in facilities management performing a portion of these tasks. Mike and Tracy
reported that facilities management is doing the freon removal starting today. Bob had
received inventory of all items required to be completed. We need to let Kathleen know
that facilities management will do the freon portion and the will be able to re-use the
refrigerant later on. Discussion was held as to why hazardous material removal portion
was separated from the asbestos removal. David stated it has always been a separate
component. We need to get a handle on who will provide this service and/or will it need
to go out for bid. This should have been in the original rfp.
The freon removal should take the rest of this week and maybe go into ne~rt week. They
are following the abatement movement around the building. There may be a delay in
starting of the demolition work by a few days. Randy stated we need to fit this work into
the process as quickly as possible.
ACTION: David to follow up with Kathleen on the particulazs of the contract for
hazazdous material removal and then will follow up with Tracy and Elyn.
In earlier discussions, Jim Sears was going to be bringing in a consultant, Debby Allen to
work with them on the recycling phase. To date there has not been a contract signed.
ACTION: David to check and follow up with Jim today on status.
There is some concern about using exemptions for contracts that may affect eligibility for
