~ Proximity of the offices of Legal Counsel and the Treasurer in Courthouse Square is likely to
increase staff and space effici~ncies as is consolidation of the District Attorney's felony and
misdemeanor court staff, Support Enforcement and Victim Assistance offices.
In addition to intemal Marion County efficiencies, joint development of Courthouse Square also
presents opportunities for shared use of facilities between the county and the Transit District.
Examples of these are sharing: one large public hearing room; overhead and operation costs for
mail, copying, maintenance and custodial services; equipment to clean and maintain the pazking
structure and bus mall; and use and maintenance of telecommunications and data systems.
Since there are a large number of variables is estimating staff and space savings from
consolidation of county offices and co-location of county and transit district offices, we have not
committed significant staff time to trying to arrive at a figure. Instead, we expect all staff and
consultants to make use of potential efficiencies as space planning continues, either for
Courthouse Square or in other facilities.
Sincerely,
BOARD OF CUMMISSIONERS
~
Chair
Commissioner
~•_
Commissioner
