Buildina Inspcctor: September 30, 1996 <br />• Director .hould have private otYice, ~vhile the rest of the ~~-orkstations are open. The space perioims a number <br />of activities and is di~~ided into a couple of different areas. Public, reception, tiles and o$ice space, the <br />c;onterenc;e rWm and breal:room are to~vard the back_ Some of the work stations require a drafling table ~~~hile <br />others are simPly ~~ork spaczs with a phone for iield personnel. <br />• Ot~ice ~ystems are navy and cranbem~. <br />• Consider break room (to he shared) or co$ee bar for dept., an area for sick ( maybe one per iloor to be shared) <br />• It ~vould he advisabie lo consider a clean area for field work~~s (in parking area- boots ete.) Also a place for <br />storing bicycle,. Also place for rec_ycling bins. <br />• There is a training room in lhis building, shared b_y the depattments ~~ith all ne~v fuinitw-e that couid be easily <br />mo~~ed. "i~he size now is just a little small; it is used for 22 staff. Some sort of coffeebar would be nice. <br />Planning Dcnxrtmcnt: <br />• Lobby/rec;eption ha~ ttv~ee people waiting at most. Area ~~~ith drawing files and regular tiles for public ac;cess. <br />• Storage- most files are in archives but active files (~ years) are in [he dept. There are 10-15 files( 4 dr. <br />~-eriical.) 11icy are usul on an hourly basis and shared with Building Inspector and Public Works. <br />• Stafl~ break room, again could be a shared space ~vith coffeebar ~~~ithin dept. <br />• Small contcrenu; ~pace with 5' paitition ~valis used for staff meetings and oc;casionally with public elient ~vorks <br />~~er~- ~~-~11 fi~r th~ dePailment. <br />• Fwnishings are gray ~~~ith oak trim and mauve. <br />Board of Commissioncrs: <br />Ree;epiian area is .mall and very isolated no~~~. Waiting room for four. <br />Conlerenc;e: rooin tc~ small no~v. It is necessary to have a tackable acoustical ~~~all covering for display <br />pu~Tou;~. Il ~vould be helpful to have the space hoaked up to the Hearing Room and have the Lobb_yisGs next to <br />the conlerence room. (Need to hear Legislature) <br />1~h~re is an e~isting cof~eebar that ~eems to be suf~icient (it is located just out;ide of conference room). <br />Cihr Counci] Chambers: <br />In dc,~igning a neu~ area ii ~~~uld be helpfui [o have an additional room at the back to house wires, tv., and <br />equipment type stuff (a control room). It should have all state of the art equipment. (Cameras in soffits etc., <br />eliminating people standing in the middle of the room in the ~va}~ etc.) <br />Be aware of the furnishings, specifically the heighi of the counter and chairs etc., the drawers for the <br />commissioners are not used presently. <br />Children and Famitics: <br />• Shares reception with the Board of Commissioners <br />• Fumishings are ne~u, they are black and ga-ay and more contemp_ looking. (3-4 veitical files) <br />• There are t~vo piivate offices with two people in one and three in the other. The space is very crowded. <br />• Children and Families is the fastest growing department and can exist on its ovvn. <br />~ ~ <br />~ 7~ <br />
