Planning, coordination and continuity are the key elements
,- to a safe cost effective project. This project will be planned
thoroughly prior to mobilization. Daily planning sessions will
insure safety, continuity and efficiency.
Asbestos complicated demolition work is more seriously
impacted by a lack of effective management. For this reason we
feel that it is in the best interests of our client and our company
to develop a cooperative relationship, between the asbestos
contractor and the demolition contractor, which begins prior to
project bid. This goal has been accomplished for this project.
Out of scope asbestos abatement has long been a problem
for asbestos and demolition contractors. At Staton our philosophy
is to pre-plan for this contingency. Some contractors have used
asbestos complications to charge large sums of money to the
client while waiting for the unforeseen complication to be
resolved. On large demolition projects there are almost always
alternatives to standby time. We know what they are, and where
they are at on a daily basis., and will be prepared to utilize them
when necessary. We will also be prepared to suspend demolition
activities if out of scope asbestos work interrupts demolition and
~ no alternatives are available rather than go to a rental standby
situation.
There are certain administrative elements of a demolition
project which minimize out of scope costs. They are: Contract
unit costs for asbestos work. Immediate communication by
contractor personnel and the client on out of scope work. On site
client personnel who have authority to approve of such work.
Willingness by contractors to perform off shift or overtime work
to keep the project on schedule. And willingness and foresight by
the demolition contractor to provide alternative work if demolition
is interrupted by out of scope asbestos abatement. Our reputation
and references will confirm this philosophy.
RECYCLING
There are two approaches to on site source separated
demolition recycling. One is small crew, unrestricted time element
recycling. Although this provides for the least amount of material
going into our lardfills, due to time requirements, most clients
3
