5. According to Staton, decommissioning of the monitoring wells can commence at any time.
~ Kathleen said she would check on when this was likely to occur and asked that Staton leave an
asphalt pad surrounding the wells in order to give the driller a good working surface.
6. Several issues were raised surrounding the former Chevron site.
Staton wants to know when they can have access to the Chevron site. Kathleen said she
will contact Chevron to find out when they will finish removing the remediation system.
Staton would like Chevron to remove all debris associated with the remediation system from
the site.
Staton will remove the fence surrounding the Chevron site in preparation for asphalt and
concrete removal.
Staton intends to leave the tree removal for last in order maintain positive public relations during
demolition. Staton will cut down the trees on the site and remove the trunks and roots. There is
one large tree along Church Street that will be cut flush with the ground, and whose roots will be
left intact. The tree is close enough to the street that removing the stump and roods would damage
the roadway and curb. There are a few trees that may be treated similarly along Chemeketa Street.
8. Pence Kelly has requested that their workers on the Statesman Journal site be allowed to park on
the Chevron site. PEG still has to remove their remedial system, so while it is a possibility, they
could not begin parking there until after the first of September.
Century West Engineering appreciates the opportunity to provide this information to you.
