,/ <br />centurywest <br />ENGINEERING CORPORATION <br />January 13, 1998 <br />Mr. Kelly Odell <br />Gelco Services, Inc. <br />1746 Salem Industrial Dr. NE <br />Salem, OR 97303 <br />RE: Sewer Laterals Abandonment Exceptions - Discrepancies <br />Courthouse Square Demolition Project <br />Dear Kelly: <br />The purpose of this letter is to confirm our conversation this morning regarding exceptions <br />identified by the City of Salem on the sewer laterals abandoned by Gelco on the Courthouse <br />Square project. <br />The original TV inspection by the City of Salem dated 12/8/97 identified seventeen (17) 4"-6" <br />service laterals connected to the 400 linear foot section of 10" diameter sanitary sewer mainline <br />" identified on the subject property. The City of Salem repeated the TV inspection on 1/9/98, after <br />Gelco had chemically grouted/sealed the seventeen (17) service laterals connected sanitary sewer <br />mainline. The second City of Salem TV report identified eighteen (18) service laterals, one more <br />in addition to the original seventeen. (Attachments entitled Sewer Main TV Inspection Detail <br />prepared by the City of Salem, dated 12/8/97 and 1/9/98.) <br />You spoke with Tim Daly of the City of Salem this morning regarding the differences in the two <br />reports. It is your understanding that the City of Salem intends to review the TV reports and <br />recommend a course of action to Gelco and Marion County.
