<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Groundskeeper <br />Class Code: <br />466 <br />Bargaining Unit: 06 - Marion County Employees <br />Association <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$17.06 - $22.83 Hourly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSA: EEOC: Department: <br />Non-Exempt 08 Service MaintenanceBusiness Services <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />This classification is responsible for maintaining the grounds and the exterior of county buildings; <br />regularly serves as a crew leader overseeing community service workers on a variety of landscaping, <br />maintenance and repair projects; assists with interior maintenance and custodial work; performing <br /> related work as required. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor who assigns work, sets goals, and <br />reviews projects by inspecting results. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision of employees is not a normal responsibility of this classification; however, this classification <br />may perform over site duties relating to minimum-security inmates assigned to building, custodial and <br />grounds keeping crews. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Performs lead duties for inmate work crews responsible for maintaining landscaped and <br />undeveloped terrain; mows, weeds, rakes and edges lawns and natural areas; installs turf; applies <br />fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides. Trains work crews in safety and proper use of equipment. <br />2.Installs, operates, and repairs irrigation systems; programs watering schedule. <br />3.Assists in landscape planning; maintains planting areas; tills soil and mixes in soil amendments; <br />plants, transplants, mulches, prunes and fertilizes flowers, shrubs and trees; recommends species, <br />selects and purchases plant materials for landscaping areas. <br />4.Clears brush and debris; hauls and spreads gravel, wood chips and bark dust; installs and repairs <br />signs, benches and barriers. <br />5.Maintains and cleans parking areas and driveways; performs minor repainting of stripes and <br />numbers. Winter maintenance of sidewalks and parking lots; removes snow and applies chemical <br />ice melter.
