Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />1.Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; AND <br />2.One (1) year experience grounds keeping experience. <br />3.Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience relevant to the <br />position. <br />4.Experience in plant care is preferred. <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS <br />Must possess, or obtain within 30 days of hire, a valid Oregon driver's license. Must possess, at <br />> <br />time of hire, and maintain an acceptable driver's record. <br />Possession of a State of Oregon Pesticide Applicator license within six (6) months of hire. <br />> <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br />Working knowledge of: Techniques and practices of grounds, landscape and building maintenance; use, <br />operation, maintenance and repair of building maintenance equipment and tools, including mowers, <br />edgers, and other hand and power tools; basic safety practices and procedures; methods for handling <br />hazardous materials, including landscaping chemicals, paints and thinners, gasoline, and cleaning <br />solutions; basic techniques of painting, electrical, plumbing, carpentry and cement finishing. <br />General knowledge of: Techniques of lead work. <br />Skill to: Safely operate manual and power tools; repair and maintain small gasoline engines; install and <br />repair underground irrigation systems; read and understand landscaping plans and specifications; plan <br />and oversee the work of assigned work crews; prepare and maintain accurate records and reports; <br />perform custodial duties; establish and maintain effective working relationships with County employees, <br />public and contractors. <br />WORKING CONDITIONS <br />Duties are performed outdoors in a variety of conditions, including excessive temperatures, inclement <br />weather and exposure to various hazardous chemicals.
