Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />1.Two (2) years of college or technical school course work in electronics, mechanics, computer <br />science, or a related area; AND <br />2.Two (2) years of experience installing and repairing radio systems; OR <br />3.Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience relevant to the <br />position. <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS <br />Must possess, or obtain within 30 days of hire, a valid Class C Oregon driver's license. Must <br />> <br />possess, at time of hire, and maintain an acceptable driver's record. <br />Must pass a criminal history background investigation; however, conviction of a crime may not <br />> <br />necessarily disqualify an individual for this classification. <br />Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical examination by a county-appointed medical <br />> <br />doctor and have good physical agility. <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br />Knowledge of: radio, telephone and electronic theory and repair fundamentals, including solid state, tube <br />and integrated circuits, power generation and electrical circuits is required; FCC rules and regulations <br />applicable to government communications; wireless internet systems; and law enforcement vehicle <br />systems is required. <br />Skill and ability to: use tools and test equipment to repair, install and service various types of electronic <br />equipment; install and construct equipment from schematic plans and diagrams; direct the work of other <br />employees; advise others in the effective use of radio systems; establish and maintain cooperative <br />working relationships with other county employees, other agencies, and the public; operate equipment in <br />accordance with FCC rules and regulations; perform work at height up to 265 ft.; complete work within <br />short timeframes; be a self-starter; and work independently with a minimum of direct supervision. <br />WORKING CONDITIONS <br />Work is performed in a shop or field environment. <br />Shop work includes: the use of a computer using word processing and e-mail programs or programs <br />specific to the position. <br />Fieldwork includes: working in a variety of inclement weather conditions. May be required to work flexible <br />schedules and for long hours under emergency conditions.
