<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Environmental Services <br />Operations Supervisor <br />Class Code: <br />346 <br />Bargaining Unit: 02 - Supervisory <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$2,420.80 - $3,240.80 Biweekly <br />$5,245.07 - $7,021.73 Monthly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSA: EEOC: Department: <br />Exempt 08 Service MaintenancePublic Works <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />Plans, organizes, and coordinates multiple environmental programs for county and contractor operated <br />environmental sites. Sites include 4 scale houses, operations of one full transfer station and recycling <br />depot, a construction and demolition landfill, yard debris composting facility, and an ash monofill that <br />includes a large ash screening and metal recovery plant; responsible for implementing new programs, <br />site maintenance, and program updates; and supervises staff ensuring compliance with policies, permits, <br />and procedures. Works flexible hours and days to ensure continued operations sites open 7 days per <br />week. Performs other related duties as required. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the supervision of the Environmental Services Division Manager who reviews work for <br />conformance to policies, permits, and procedures. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Exercises supervision over a crew leader, scale attendants, laborers, and heavy and medium equipment <br />operators; participates in the selection of new personnel, provides for training, evaluates performance, <br />responds to grievances, takes disciplinary action and recommends personnel actions. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Supervises the daily operations and of maintenance multiple environmental programs including <br />county environmental sites. <br />2.Performs the full range of supervisory responsibilities, including, but not limited to, scheduling <br />work, performing annual merit ratings, interviewing prospective employees, training employees <br />and recommending disciplinary action. <br />3.Drives between disposal sites or transfer stations to deliver and/or pick up supplies or other <br />materials. May be required to drive to other offices or agencies. <br />4.Keeps accurate and complete records. Responsible for site transactions by attendants, including <br />daily cash and credit charges. <br />5.Monitors recycling stations for collection of appropriate articles. Monitors incoming materials for <br />hazardous chemicals.
