<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Maintenance Worker <br />Class Code: <br />401 <br />Bargaining Unit: 06 - Marion County Employees <br />Association <br />MARION COUNTY <br />Established Date: Jun 1, 1988 <br />Revision Date: Apr 15, 2016 <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$16.35 - $21.88 Hourly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSA: EEOC: Department: <br />Non-Exempt 08 Service MaintenancePublic Works <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />The Maintenance Worker is responsible for various manual labor tasks within the Public Works <br />Department including, but not limited to, work duties for roads, bridges, vegetation, sign, pavement <br />markings, traffic devices and control, ferries, fleet, nuisance control, working with inmate work crews, park <br />maintenance, landfill and transfer site operations. Performs other related duties as assigned. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the direct supervision of a supervisor, crew leader or lead worker who assigns work and <br />observes performance to ensure conformance to department standards. At discretion of direct <br />supervisor, may work independently for limited durations and/or on routine tasks. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of positions in this classification. May aid in the <br />instruction of peer employees. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Performs heavy manual labor, including digging ditches, cleaning and installing culverts, cutting <br />and chipping brush, removing obstacles from roadways, adjacent areas and solid waste sites, <br />hand loading and unloading all types of materials. <br />2.Operates cars, pickups, light trucks, forklifts, tractor mowers, skid steers, self-propelled sweepers, <br />and tools such as chain saws, jackhammers, crack sealers, weed eaters, grinding machines, <br />pavement cutter, etc. <br />3.Acts as a flagger setting up work zones, and controlling and directing traffic around hazards or <br />crews in roadways. <br />4.Performs tasks in patching and repairing road surfaces, such as removing loose material, tacking <br />or raking and shoveling materials. May work in severe weather, participating in flood control and <br />snow, ice, and windstorm debris removal. <br />5.On ferries: works under supervision of the ferry operator; collects money and makes change; <br />assists with openings and closings; and assists with repairs when breakdowns occur. <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/3/2020 <br /> <br />
