<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Heavy Equipment <br />Operator <br />Class Code: <br />404 <br />Bargaining Unit: 06 - Marion County Employees <br />Association <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$20.32 - $27.20 Hourly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSA: EEOC: Department: <br />Non-Exempt 07 Skilled CraftPublic Works <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />The Heavy Equipment Operator operates the heaviest, most complex road and bridge construction and <br />maintenance equipment in the classification series. Operates any equipment and performs any tasks of <br />lower level classification within this job series. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the general supervision of a supervisor or the lead direction of a crew leader who assigns <br />duties, observes performance and inspects work upon completion for conformance to construction and <br />maintenance standards. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of positions in this classification; however, may <br />exercise lead direction over a small work crew. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1. Performs heavy manual labor; digs ditches; cleans and installs culverts; removes debris from <br />roadway and shoulders; prepares potholes, cracked, and broken pavement for patching; loads and <br />unloads tools, equipment, and materials; operates equipment for digging and cleaning surface <br />ditches and other related tasks. <br />2.Works on brush removal crews and participates in snow and ice removal; trims trees, shrubs, and <br />other plants; mows, cuts, stacks and chips brush; hauls brush and other debris; operates snow <br />blower; loads and applies sand, gravel and deicer to roads; plows snow from roadway; installs <br />vehicle chains. <br />3.Performs minor servicing, adjustment and maintenance on vehicles and equipment; checks levels <br />and replaces fluids; lubricates equipment; reports operating and repair problems to equipment <br />shop supervisor or mechanics. <br />4.Operates trucks, trailers and related equipment; hauls and dumps road maintenance and repair <br />materials, including asphalt, rock, oil, dirt and culvert pipes; loads and transports road equipment. <br />5.Operates loaders, bulldozers, tractors, excavators and related equipment to load and move road <br />materials; loads dump trucks, pavers and distributors; feeds rock into pug mill; sweeps or scrapes <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/3/2020 <br /> <br />
