Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />road surfaces; moves and removes dirt, rocks, brush and other debris; cleans ditches and catch <br />basins. <br />6.Operates track hoe/back hoe to excavate dirt and other materials, dig ditches, rip asphalt, install <br />culvert pipes, back fill trenches, cut road grade, clear brush and debris and widen roads. <br />7.Performs construction work to grade states; grades asphalt on patching and oil seals. <br />8.Operates graders to spread paving materials, smooth and level gravel roadways, remove slides <br />and contour roadways; operates chip spreader to spread rock chips for road bed; operates oil <br />distributor for road sealing, dust abatement and tack coating; operates pavers, screeds and rollers <br />to apply asphalt and finish paved, patched and oiled roads. <br />9.Operates equipment for specialized road maintenance functions, such as road striping, herbicide <br />application and rock crushing. <br />10.Accesses computer information such as inventory and maintenance records, and material safety <br />and data information; electronically processes daily time sheets. <br />11.Operates equipment for road striping, installs pavement markings (Legends) in plastic and in <br />painting various road markings; installs reflective pavement markers and installs and maintains <br />traffic control devices. <br />12.Performs routine maintenance on flashing lights, replacing bulbs, lenses and flashers. <br />13.Performs skilled carpentry and construction work for bridge construction and other construction <br />maintenance. <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />1.Graduation from high school, or equivalent; AND <br />2.*Six (6) years experience in the operation of motorized road maintenance and construction <br />equipment and the performance of related skilled manual tasks (*Depending on the position, <br />experience in a specialized field may be required, i.e. land fill operations, sign shop maintenance <br />or state certified crane operation.); OR <br />3.Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience relevant to the <br />position. <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS <br />Must possess, or obtain within 30 days of hire, a valid Oregon CDL-A driver's license with tank <br />> <br />endorsement.Must possess, at time of hire, and maintain an acceptable driver's record. <br />Must be a certified flagger with the State of Oregon or able to obtain within 30 days. <br />> <br />Must obtain, within 90 days of hire, an operations level hazardous material clean-up training <br />> <br />certification. <br />Some positions will require possession of, or obtain within five (5) months of hire, an herbicide <br />> <br />applicator's license. <br />Some positions will require possession of, at time of hire, a stat-approved (OR-OSHA) Crane <br />> <br />Operator certification. <br />Must pass a criminal history background investigation; however, conviction of a crime may not <br />> <br />disqualify an individual for this classification. <br />Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical examination by a County-appointed medical <br />> <br />doctor and have good physical agility. <br />Final candidate will be required to pass a drug screening test. <br />> <br />WORKING CONDITIONS <br />Work is performed in a field environment or a simple office structure. Office work is infrequent and <br />includes the use of a computer using word processing and e-mail programs or programs specific to the <br />position. Fieldwork includes working in a variety of weather conditions, sometimes working in close <br />proximity to roadway traffic.
