Keeps victims informed of their rights, how to exercise them, and provides updates on the <br />criminal justice system as it pertains to their case. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under supervision of the Victim Assistance Program Manager, who assigns work, sets goals and <br />reviews for conformance to policy and procedures. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of positions in this classification. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Provides case management that includes advocacy and monitoring for victims of sexual abuse, <br />domestic violence, child neglect and other crimes. Cases assigned by manager or Program <br />Coordinators. <br />2.Provides direct advocacy services to victims of crimes as specified by established procedures or <br />written instruction from assigning co-workers.Direct services include accompanying victims to court <br />appearances, hearings and meetings with Deputy District Attorneys and providing social service <br />and counseling referrals as needed. <br />3.Maintains victim case files and monitors progress of cases.Keeps calendar of court hearings, <br />meetings, trials, sentencing, grand jury and other events for assigned cases.Provides assigned <br />Deputy District Attorney status of the case as it pertains to the victim. <br />4.Assists with walk-ins, telephone calls and outreach efforts. <br />5.Assists in the recruitment, screening, and placement of volunteer advocates in the program. <br />Provides volunteer training and backup for other staff on training logistics.
