Performs other duties <br />as required. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the supervision of a supervisor who assigns work and reviews results for conformance to <br />department policies and standards. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of positions in this class. However, incumbents may <br />exercise lead responsibility over other employees. <br />DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS <br />The Accounting Specialist is the journey level classification within the accounting support classifications. <br />Incumbents perform a variety of difficult to complex accounting support duties according to generally <br />established guidelines, regulations, or instructions. Incumbents are expected to understand and correctly <br />apply appropriate rules, procedures, and guidelines. Starting at this level, there is an emphasis on <br />completing duties in an independent, proficient manner, using good judgment and initiative. <br />Positions in this class may have either the responsibility of countywide oversight in a specialty area, such <br />as accounts payable or receivable, or independently perform duties difficult to complex in nature, such as, <br />research, analysis, and interpretation of financial data. <br />The Accounting Specialist differs from the Accounting Clerk, which is responsible for processing and <br />maintaining routine accounting records and files following established guidelines and procedures, e.g., <br />accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />Countywide Scope <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/3/2020 <br /> <br />
