<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Tax Clerk <br />Class Code: <br />004 <br />Bargaining Unit: 06 - Marion County Employees <br />Association <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$17.06 - $22.83 Hourly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSA: EEOC: Department: <br /> Non-Exempt 06 Administrative SupportAssessor <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />Performs complex clerical/accounting duties requiring thorough knowledge of laws and procedures <br />relating to tax collection; processes and maintains a variety of records and documents; performs related <br />work as required. Includes detailed recordkeeping and considerable customer service at the counter, on <br />the telephone, by e-mail and/or fax. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the direction or supervision of the Senior Tax Clerk or Tax Office Supervisor, who sets <br />goals, assigns work, and reviews performance to insure conformity to departmental and legal <br />requirements. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision of other employees is not a normal responsibility of this classification, but may act as a lead <br />worker for temporary employees during peak periods. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Provides customer service to the public over the telephone, by e-mail, and in person providing <br />information related to property, taxes and assessments; answers inquiries, computes interest and <br />discounts, gives pay-off information and searches records for information. Provides written <br />verification of property tax information to government agencies. <br />2.Receives and posts payments made via cash or check; issues receipts; completes daily balance <br />sheet; prepares deposits; reconciles records between FIMS and TSG. <br />3.Receives and posts prepayment of taxes for manufactured structures, disqualified farm accounts, <br />partition plats, and subdivisions. Effectively works with the Assessor's Office and Planning <br />Department to insure all procedural guidelines are followed. Processes and files all documentation <br />necessary in the prepayment process. <br />4.Processes refunds due to overpayments and/or orders received; sets up refund files; contacts <br />affected parties; sets up refund batches; balances records between FIMS and TSG; posts refunds <br />to accounts. <br />5.Monitors personal property and manufactured structure status to collect taxes; answers inquiries, <br />prepares releases, files and/or releases judgments, prepares warrants, and prepares pay-off <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/4/2020 <br /> <br />
