Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />7.Provides technical assistance on seeking and evaluating data-based interventions. <br />8.Provides technical assistance on evaluating research results for the purpose of informing <br />decisions. <br />9.Develops, presents and evaluates education and training for staff and community partners. <br />10.As surge capacity, provides investigation and follow-up of reportable conditions, communicable <br />diseases, and outbreaks according to Oregon communicable disease guidelines and reporting <br />requirements. This may include analysis of outbreak data. <br />11.As a communicable disease team member, conducts investigations, assists with, or leads team- <br />related activities such as quality improvement, performance management, emergency response <br />planning, partner outreach and policy review and development. <br />12.Participates in the process for evaluation of requests for division participation health research, and <br />subsequent implementation if a request is approved. <br />13.Acts as project lead when assigned; develops project goals, objectives, and strategies with <br />timelines for completion and leads a team to implement the time-limited project and develop a <br />report of the process and outcome. <br />14.Participates in public health information releases in collaboration with the health officer or <br />others. Assists in providing data interpretation to the targeted audience. <br />15.Performs other duties as assigned. <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />1.Masters degree from an accredited school of Public Health, with an emphasis in biostatistics- <br />epidemiology; OR <br />2.Masters degree from an accredited school of Public Health with completed coursework in <br />biostatistics and epidemiology; OR <br />3.Masters degree with significant course work in biostatistics and epidemiology, and one year of <br />experience performing epidemiological or related work. <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS <br />Must possess, or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire, a valid Class C Oregon driver's license. <br />> <br />Must possess and maintain an acceptable driving record. <br />> <br />If personal vehicle is used, must possess and maintain proof of personal automobile liability <br />> <br />insurance, at a minimum, in the amount required by Oregon Law \[ORS Chapter 806\]. <br />Must pass a criminal history background investigation; however, conviction of a crime may not <br />> <br />necessarily disqualify an individual for this classification. <br />DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS <br />The Epidemiologist is one of a core group of professional staff that works under supervision of public <br />health management and medical direction of the Public Health Officer, to assure the health of Marion <br />County residents. This core group includes public health nurses (PHN), environmental health sanitarians <br />(EHS) and health educators (HE). <br />Public Health Nurse: Works with the health care provider and the affected individuals to conduct the <br />investigation and control of communicable diseases and conditions. <br />Environmental Health Sanitarians: Works in the community to inspect and enforce regulations to assure <br />safe food and water. <br />Health Educators: Works with partners to educate and promote policy that supports health at the <br />organizational and community level. <br />Epidemiologist: Provides the population based assessment and other planning and evaluation activities <br />that are foundational to all public health services, and may also conduct investigations and control of <br />communicable diseases and conditions. <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/3/2020 <br /> <br />
