2.Associate's degree in building inspection, building construction, civil engineering or related field <br />with five (5) years increasingly responsible building inspection experience. <br />3.Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience relevant to the <br />position. <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY <br />Considerable knowledge of administrative and management skills; considerable knowledge of building <br />construction, materials and methods; thorough knowledge of the county and state building and zoning <br />laws and codes; working knowledge of building construction terminology and techniques; ability to detect <br />structural, fire/life safety and other violations; ability to read and interpret plans and specifications and to <br />compare them with construction in progress; ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written <br />form; ability to establish and maintain cooperative relations with contractors, co-workers, and the general <br />public; ability to supervise employees. <br />NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS <br />Must possess, or obtain within 30 days of hire, a valid Oregon driver's license.Must possess, at <br />? <br />time of hire, and maintain an acceptable driver's record; AND <br />Must possess an Oregon Inspector Certification (OIC) AND; <br />? <br />Must possess an Oregon Structural Inspector A-Level (SIA) Certification AND; <br />? <br />Must possess, or obtain within 12 months, an Oregon Building Official certification. <br />? <br />PREFERENCES <br />Candidates with management experience and/or training, including budgetary experience with a <br />? <br />regulatory agency (public or private). <br />Candidates who possess an Oregon Mechanical Inspector A-Level certification. <br />? <br />Candidates who possess an Oregon Structural Plans Examiner A-Level certification. <br />? <br />Candidates who possess an Oregon Residential Plumbing Inspector certification. <br />? <br />Candidates who possess an Oregon Residential Electrical Inspector certification. <br />? <br />Candidates who possess an International Code Council (ICC) certification as a building official. <br />? <br />ADOPTED: <br />11/17 <br />MARKET REVIEW: <br />11/17 <br />Page of <br />?? <br />
