Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />3.Monitors the enterprise network for enhancements while resolving client concerns and operational <br />problems. <br />4.Assesses the capacity and future needs of the enterprise network in order to maintain network <br />efficiency and recommends enhancements to the supervisor. <br />5.Coordinates and performs network installations and major upgrades, including both hardware and <br />operating system software. Performs diagnostic procedures to determine cause of hardware and <br />software failures. <br />6.Administers wide area network. Coordinates and performs installations of inter-network <br />connections, connections to host computers, and other related network communications. <br />7.Functions as technical support for customer service involving issues pertaining to the LAN, WAN, <br />or security. <br />8.Directs other Information Technology personnel as directed by management as necessary for <br />implementation of new installations and enhancements. Installs commercial and internally <br />developed applications at the enterprise level and troubleshoots problems that occur. <br />9.Works with other department analysts and outside consultants on troubleshooting and resolution <br />for maintaining and improving performance of the enterprise network. <br />10.Network administration of the email system to include upgrades, patches, restorations, and other <br />advanced functions of the email system. Monitors and filters email using anti-spam software. <br />11.Performs diagnostic procedures to determine cause of hardware and software failures. Complex <br />problems will require an advanced knowledge of protocol analysis using a network sniffer. <br />12.Administer network and system security procedures for the enterprise network. <br />13.Performs related duties as required. <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />1.Bachelor's Degree in computer systems or related area; AND <br />2.Four (4) years of responsible technical experience in network administration; AND <br />3.Two (2) years experience in providing lead direction over other network analysts, which may be <br />concurrent with other experience; OR <br />4.Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience relevant to the <br />position. <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br />Thorough knowledge of: Windows and Novell local area networks; network installations including <br />hardware and software; switches, routers, and wireless devices; internet and intranet based applications; <br />network security devices including firewalls, host and network IPS hardware and software, VPN devices, <br />and AAA servers; system and network security concepts; advanced research and analysis concepts and <br />techniques; project management and supervision techniques; and general planning concepts. <br />Skill and ability to: Communicate effectively both orally and in writing; convey technical and complex <br />information to staff; assign work and evaluate staff performance; troubleshoot and resolve client/user <br />concerns and operational problems; assess capacity and future needs of network system; perform <br />network installations; train and direct others in use of system; coordinate and implement projects; <br />establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with system users and other county personnel; <br />ability to fix complex system problems with minimum impact to users. <br />ADOPTED: <br />02/99 <br />REVISED: <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/4/2020 <br /> <br />
