<br />5.Performs background and other information inquiries, reviewing confidential and sensitive
<br />information from manual and/or computerized sources. Screens records that are legally exempt
<br />from public disclosure.
<br />6.Receives and distributes messages or activity reports to local, state, or national criminal justice
<br />agencies. Transmits teletype and computer messages.
<br />7.Processes a variety of correspondence, narratives, reports, minutes, tables, and other documents
<br />from dictated, typed, or handwritten material into suitable format. Creates documents and reports
<br />using editing, formatting, and other computer functions. Proofreads text for grammar, clarity,
<br />punctuation, and spelling.
<br />8.Meets and greets the public and directs individuals to appropriate staff. Receives, transfers or
<br />refers calls to proper source. Provides information relating to law enforcement activities.
<br />Responds to requests for information.
<br />9.Participates in full range of civil process (legal document) preparation for service and return to
<br />courts following service. Receives documents for service or processing and reviews for proper
<br />preparation, attachments, fees, and instructions. Distributes documents to proper authority for
<br />review and approval/processing. Enters, retrieves or alters records, researches background
<br />information, and communicates with other law enforcement agencies through a variety of
<br />communication sources.
<br />10.Monitors, gathers and documents information and data in accordance with office requirements.
<br /> Posts records and makes adjustments or corrections to records according to direction. Compiles
<br />and maintains data and fiscal information for budgeting, billing purposes, and monthly reports.
<br />Processes transactions, collects fees, and issues receipts.
<br />11.Performs complex filing and record keeping duties utilizing several systems. Develops and
<br />maintains filing systems. Conducts file and record searches. Indexes and cross-indexes records.
<br />12.Fingerprints and photographs individuals for a variety of law enforcement purposes.
<br />13.Communicates with staff and public using a variety of devices, i.e., radios, phones, etc.
<br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
<br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
<br />1.Graduation from high school; AND
<br />2.Two (2) years of responsible office experience utilizing a variety of computer software programs;
<br />OR
<br />3.Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience relevant to the
<br />position.
<br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
<br />Applicants subject to a background check, including but not limited to, criminal record.

<br />Some positions require possession of Law Enforcement Data System certification, or ability to
<br />>
<br />obtain within six months of appointment.
<br />May be required to pass a skills assessment test.
<br />>
<br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY
<br />Knowledge of: Oregon law pertaining to the criminal justice system, office practices and procedures;
<br />business grammar and spelling; general record keeping practices; math and basic bookkeeping
<br />practices; and office equipment and various computer hardware and software systems.
<br />Skill and ability to: accurately and effectively record a variety of information; follow general procedure and
<br />program policies; interact with others in a courteous, professional manner; work under pressure to meet
<br />time lines; manage varying volumes of workload and diversity of tasks; concentrate on work amid
<br />distractions; effectively use computer systems; understand and effectively follow oral and written
<br />instructions, communication, and procedures; apply newly assigned procedures and practices to specific
<br />work assignments; keyboard at an acceptable speed; provide backup to other positions as needed; in a
<br />24-hour, 7-day/week operation with rotating shift schedules. This includes working day, swing and night
<br />shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required. May be assigned to a secured facility, i.e.,
