Administers and interprets <br />zoning ordinances and development codes exercising expertise in one or more functional areas of this <br />process; researches and analyzes comprehensive land use planning documents and provides specific <br />recommendations for action. Performs related work as required. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the supervision of the Building and Planning Division Manager or Principal Planner who <br />assigns work, establishes goals and reviews the results obtained for overall effectiveness and <br />conformance to laws and department procedures. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision of employees is not a responsibility of positions in this classification. <br />DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS <br />The Associate Planner is the journey-level professional class within the planning series. Positions at this <br />level perform moderately complex research and analysis in one or more functional areas, assist in policy <br />formulation and evaluation, and advise the public and other agencies on County planning and economic <br />topics. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Compiles and evaluates data regarding all elements of the Comprehensive Plan and supporting <br />documents, including the current status of land use, transportation and human resource systems <br />for use in comprehensive planning studies. <br />2.Prepares and presents oral and written presentations/recommendations to the Hearings Officer <br />and/or Board of Commissioners, and/or Planning Commission regarding any and all land use <br />actions.
