Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />legislation to determine if amendments to current ordinances are required and recommend course <br />of action; assists in policy formulation and evaluation. <br />4.Works directly with assigned citizen planning groups in conjunction with the Building and Planning <br />Division Manager and Principal Planner in order to prepare community plans; act as department <br />liaison with individual communities; organize plan preparation process; attend regular community <br />planning meetings; identify community issues, problems and goals. <br />5.Responds to inquiries and public agency requests; explains reasoning behind land use planning <br />decisions and possible recourse interested persons may have. <br />6.Attends pre-application conferences; records proceedings and evaluates impact of land <br />development requests on County land use plans. <br />7.May act as project planner for specific planning programs and short term projects that may be <br />developed to further Planning Division goals and directives. Coordinates with program or project <br />participants, develops strategies and plans to implement initiatives and reports on progress to the <br />Building and Planning Division Manager and others as appropriate. <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />1.Graduation from a four year college or university with major course work in planning or a related <br />field; AND <br />2.Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in land use planning; OR <br />3.Master's Degree in land use planning or a related field; OR <br />4.Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience relevant to the <br />position. <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br />Considerable knowledge of: Principles and procedures of land use planning, research methodology and <br />statistical techniques; principles of basic mathematics; knowledge of legal aspects of land use or <br />comprehensive planning including implementation codes; knowledge of statewide planning process and <br />County planning policies and procedures. <br />Ability to: Interpret land development and planning ordinances; understand social, environmental and <br />physical relationships of land use planning; communicate policy and procedures effectively in both oral <br />and written form; deliver oral presentations to commissions, and the public; research, compile, analyze, <br />and evaluate technical planning data; prepare clear and concise reports; develop and maintain effective <br />working relationships with other agencies, employees and the public. <br />ADOPTED: <br />06/78 <br />REVISED: <br />06/78; 02/81; 06/88; 06/94; 05/95; 01/00; 04/02; 02/08; 06/18 <br />MARKET REVIEW: <br />12/13; 05/18 <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/4/2020 <br />
