<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Planner Principal <br />Class Code: <br />374 <br />Bargaining Unit: 13 - Non-Supervisory <br />MARION COUNTY <br />Established Date: Jun 1, 1994 <br />Revision Date: Jun 4, 2018 <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$2,536.80 - $3,399.20 Biweekly <br />$5,496.40 - $7,364.93 Monthly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSAEEOCDepartment <br />: Exempt : 02 Professionals : Public Works <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />Ensures that county long-range and current land use policies and regulations are updated and <br />administered in a manner consistent with state law, the rules of the state Land Conservation and <br />Development Commission, and the policies and decisions of the Marion County Board of Commissioners; <br />performs related work as required. The person in this position may be appointed by the Board of <br />Commissioners as the county planning director and/or zoning administrator. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the general supervision of the Building and Planning Division Manager, who establishes <br />goals and work program factors and reviews the results obtained through the analysis of reports and <br />conferences. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />The Principal Planner is the leadworker position within the planning series. Incumbents perform the most <br />complex planning research and analysis, lead the work of a particular planning function, and represent <br />the County before significant policy-making bodies. The Principal Planner is distinguished from the <br />Senior Planner, which provides direction to a small group of planners assigned to a particular project. <br />Participates in interviews and recommends selection of new personnel, provides for training, and <br />recommendations on staff performance. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Plans, assigns work, schedules, trains, and provides input to performance evaluations; and assists <br />the division manager in developing goals and objectives for planning staff. <br />2.Assists management in the administration of the planning division. <br />3.Responsible for and/or delegates the development and presentation of reports and studies to <br />public bodies such as the Marion County Board of Commissioners, County Planning Commission, <br />and community groups; coordinates staff research on assigned projects to meet division goals; <br />determines methodologies, information resources and techniques. <br />4.Represents the County's planning and economic development goals and objectives before <br />significant policy-making agencies, councils, groups, and organizations such as legislative <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/4/2020 <br /> <br />
