Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />including proper use, logging, ordering, and storage of controlled substances; record keeping techniques; <br />computer skills, communications skills; customer service training; and dealing with difficult people <br />techniques. <br />Skills and abilities to safely and effectively handle, care for and treat vicious, stray or diseased animals; <br />handle and control animals; administers injections, microchips and medications to dogs; explain proper <br />care of animals to the public and adoptive owners; identify diseases and assess injuries in dogs and take <br />appropriate safety precautions when handling such animals; perform humane euthanasia; establish and <br />maintain cooperative working relationships with the public, veterinarians, volunteers, animal interest <br />groups and County employees; prepare and maintain accurate, detailed records; clerical and computer <br />skills; and operate vehicles to transport animals and supplies. <br />WORKING CONDITIONS <br />Duties involve regular exposure to aggressive, frightened, injured or diseased animals. Work is <br />performed both in an office and outdoors, year round, in a variety of weather conditions. Work includes <br />performing physical/manual labor such as lifting unassisted and carrying large bags of dog food, hoses, <br />deceased dogs, and water buckets. Exert moderate to extensive amount of physical effort involving <br />stooping, crouching, bending, twisting, and climbing.
