Employees in this classification work under administrative direction. Additional <br />responsibilities may include creating and maintaining Geographic Information System (GIS) databases, <br />translating geographic and demographic data. <br />DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS <br />This classification series includes Programmer/Analyst 1, 2 and 3. The distinguishing features of the <br />Programmer/Analyst 3 include thorough knowledge and ability to analyze data base applications, clarify <br />specifications, and plan new or modified program applications and/or GIS products. Employees in this <br />classification would be expected to perform highly complex assignments under the general direction of an <br />IT Supervisor or Manager who assigns work, establishes goals, and reviews work for conformance to <br />technical and department standards and compliance with department goals. Incumbents in this <br />classification exercise lead direction over technical and clerical staff. <br />Employees in this classification work on routine and advanced computer programs and systems; provide <br />project leadership; assist other programmers with computer technology; test new technology; make <br />repair/purchase recommendations. The Programmer/Analyst 3 works under limited supervision on large <br />projects with critical impact and with multiple and conflicting project deadlines; provide the highest level of <br />expert consultation to management and professional staff; conduct comprehensive analysis, planning, <br />development and implementation for the operations of information systems. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Develops specifications for the most complex and comprehensive system software. <br />2.Participates in overall system planning and recommends courses of action. <br />3.Plans, assigns, directs and coordinates the activities of the system programming staff. <br />4.Provides troubleshooting support for problems of the most complex nature. <br />5.Trains systems programmers and computing professionals. <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/4/2020 <br /> <br />
