<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Engineering Division <br />Manager <br />Class Code: <br />314 <br />Bargaining Unit: 02 - Supervisory <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$3,408.80 - $4,565.60 Biweekly <br />$7,385.73 - $9,892.13 Monthly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSA: EEOC: Department: <br />Exempt02 ProfessionalsPublic Works <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />Manages the Engineering Division of the Public Works Department which includes responsibility for <br />preparation of a multi-million dollar division annual budget. Monitors and manages program and project <br />expenditures. Supervises a staff of approximately 30 providing planning and engineering reviews and <br />comments on land development in unincorporated Marion County and within cities where county roads <br />are affected; design and contracting of complex major construction projects; traffic engineering; and the <br />County Surveyor's office. Secures federal, state, grant and other funding. Develops, negotiates and <br />administers contracts and intergovernmental agreements. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the general supervision of the Director of Public Works, who sets overall department <br />direction, endorses goals, assigns general areas of responsibility, and evaluates performance through <br />conferences and the observation of results obtained. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Exercises direction and supervision over professional engineering, graphics, and survey personnel; <br />oversees and participates in the selection of new personnel, provides for training, evaluates performance, <br />responds to grievances, and recommends personnel transactions including hiring, disciplining and <br />terminating employees. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Responsible for the engineering design of capital improvements such as roads, bridges, traffic <br />safety projects and drainage improvements for County, small cities and service districts. Includes <br />design surveys and the preparation of plans specifications and contract documents and quality <br />control and documentation during construction. <br />2.Responsible for selection and implementation of specialized engineering and surveying equipment <br />and software such as computer-aided drafting, road design, geographic information systems, <br />survey and global positioning systems, and surface management. <br />3.Responsible for the review of the impacts of various land uses such as subdivisions, commercial <br />and industrial developments, partitions, lot line adjustments, zone changes, conditional uses, etc. <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/3/2020 <br /> <br />
