<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Survey Technician 3 <br />Class Code: <br />317 <br />Bargaining Unit: 06 - Marion County Employees <br />Association <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$25.69 - $34.45 Hourly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSA: EEOC: Department: <br />Non-Exempt 03 TechniciansPublic Works <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />Performs diverse independent survey functions in advanced field, office and Geographic Information <br />System (GIS) records management work. Work includes, but is not limited to, field and/or office crew <br />leadership; checking partitions and subdivisions of surveyors for conformance to survey standards; lead <br />worker performing land surveying work, engineering projects, reestablishment and/or witnessing <br />government corners; managing GIS survey record software system; planning, developing and overseeing <br />GIS system storage and retrieval processes and procedures; and creating reports and maps from records <br />system. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the general supervision of manager who assigns projects and reviews work performance. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of this classification; however, individuals in it may <br />exercise lead direction over other survey personnel. May provide input on employee performance and <br />provide assistance and recommendation in the hiring process. <br />DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS <br />This classification is the advanced journey level class in the Survey Technician series. The classification <br />at this level is distinguished from other classes within the series by the level of responsibility assumed, <br />the complexity of duties assigned and lead direction given to other staff. The Survey Technician III <br />performs the most difficult and responsible types of duties assigned to the classes within this series. This <br />would include technological management and use of the survey records system (GIS), its vendors and <br />users; organizing and lead supervision of individual survey crews performing construction, boundary and <br />cadastral surveying, and review of their survey products. Checking partitions and subdivisions of <br />surveyors for conformance to survey standards. Employees at this level are required to be fully trained in <br />all procedures and technology related to assigned are of responsibility.
